How to Test the Permanent Self-Registration Authentication Method
This article operates under the assumption that a captive portal is already set-up, and both the Permanent Self-Registration and the Local Account authentication method is selected. Both authentication methods need to be added to the captive portal in order to test. If this step has not already been completed, please refer to this article for assistance.
Authentication Methods
Once you have completed setup of your captive portal, you can test it following these steps.
- Open your splash page via the captive portal page. Scroll down to the Portal Settings header, and under the sub header Splash Page URL, click the link.
- Enter in your name, an email address that is different from the one you used to create your IronWiFi account, a username, and password.

- In the IronWiFI console, navigate to users -> guests. You should see your user name you just created listed.

Now that you have successfully created a new user, we need to login to the captive portal with it.
- Open your splash page via the captive portal page. Scroll down to the Portal Settings header, and under the sub header Splash Page URL, click the link.
- On this page, underneath where you registered, enter in your username and password you created.

- Click Sign in. You will then be shown a success page stating "You are online".
- If the method is not working, please contact IronWiFi technical support.
